Copier Leasing for Manufacturing and Logistics

On a plant floor or in a warehouse, printing is part of the operation. If labels stop, shipping stops.

Printing That Holds Up the Line

Work orders, pick lists, bills of lading, packing slips and shipping labels are not office
paperwork — they are the operation. A failure at the shipping desk at four o’clock is a truck that
does not leave. That is the reason our four-hour response is contractual rather than an advertised
average, and why a machine under contract that cannot be repaired gets replaced.

The Environment Is Hostile

Dust, heat, vibration and paper stored somewhere humid all shorten equipment life, and machines
specified for a quiet office do not last in a plant. Placement matters as much as specification —
we will tell you when a device is in the wrong spot, because moving it is cheaper than replacing it
twice.

Shifts, Not Office Hours

If you run two or three shifts, the machine works far more hours than its monthly volume implies
and the duty cycle matters more than the headline speed. This is the sector where the difference
between a manufacturer’s peak duty cycle and its recommended monthly volume causes the most damage,
because equipment gets specified against the wrong number and then fails early.

Drawings and Wide Format

Engineering drawings, plant layouts and schematics need wide format. We carry it, and it is worth
bringing in-house at the point where reprint turnaround starts holding up work rather than at the
point where the outsourcing invoice looks large.

What We Usually Place

Mono volume dominates, so speed and paper capacity earn their keep — the
Ricoh IM 5000 at 50 ppm from $189 a month or the
IM 6000 at 60 ppm from $199. For the shipping desk itself, a
robust dedicated unit such as the
Brother HL-L6415DW from $49 keeps label printing off
the shared machine entirely.

Common Questions

What happens if the shipping desk printer fails? Our agreements carry a guaranteed four-hour on-site response written into the contract, and if a machine under contract cannot be repaired we replace it.

Do office copiers survive a plant environment? Not always. Dust, heat, vibration and humidity shorten equipment life, and placement matters as much as specification. We will say when a device is in the wrong location.

How should we size equipment for multiple shifts? On recommended monthly volume, not the manufacturer’s peak duty cycle. Multi-shift operations run machines far more hours than monthly totals suggest, and sizing against duty cycle leads to early failure.

What Every Agreement Includes

  • Guaranteed four-hour on-site response, written into the service agreement
rather than quoted as an average.
  • If a machine under contract cannot be repaired, we replace it. No argument
about whose problem a dead machine is.
  • Our own technicians. RDS employees who carry common failure parts, so most
calls close on the first visit.
  • Installation, network and scan setup, and training included.
