Wide-Format and Plotter Repair in Florida

When a plotter stops in an architecture, engineering or construction office, a deadline usually stops with it, and there is rarely a second machine to fall back on. Wide-format is also the equipment most general copier companies quietly decline to touch.

RDS Team repairs wide-format equipment across Florida with a contractual four-hour on-site response, using our own technicians rather than a subcontracted service company. Most of the machines we are called out to were sold by somebody else, and that is fine — you do not have to have bought the machine from us to get it fixed.

What We Work On

We cover HP DesignJet plotters, Ricoh wide-format devices, and engineering and CAD printers, from single desktop units to machines running as shared office workhorses.

The Faults We Are Called Out For Most

  • Printheads and ink delivery — banding, missing lines and color shifts normally start here, and a clogged head is not always a dead one.
  • Media handling and skew — roll feed, tension and the cutter assembly — the parts that decide whether a long plot arrives straight.
  • Carriage belts and encoder strips — a dirty encoder strip produces faults that look electronic and are not.
  • Drivers and plot files — on CAD workflows the fault is often upstream of the printer entirely, and we will say so rather than sell you a part.

A Four-Hour Response, In Writing

Most dealers quote a response time as an average, which is another way of saying that half their customers wait longer than it. Ours is a guaranteed four-hour on-site response written into the service agreement, and it is the same commitment whether the machine came from us or not.

One-Off Repair or a Service Agreement

If you have one machine and it has broken once, a one-off call-out is the sensible answer, and we quote it after diagnosing the fault rather than before. If you are running several devices, a service agreement usually costs less across a year than the call-outs it replaces, and it is what puts the four-hour response in writing. We will tell you plainly which of the two fits you.

It is also worth knowing when a repair stops being worth doing. On an older machine well past its maintenance interval, parts and labor can approach what the equipment is worth — and at that point leasing a current machine or renting one is the better spend. We would rather say so than sell you the same repair twice.

Call 888-242-4242 and tell us the make, the model and what it is doing. If there is an error code on the panel, read it to us — it often tells us which part to bring, which turns two visits into one. You can also use the form on our contact page.
